On our way back from a horse show at Rancho Murieta Equestrian we decided to stop here for a drink but ended up having dinner because the menu looked great. We both had the Orecchiette pasta the only pasta recipe on the menu and it was delicious. Very tasty sauce w spicy (not too spicy) sausage, broccolini, and orecchiette pasta. Learned this restaurant is owned by same folks as Lucca downtown and Roxy in Fair Oaks. Now I know why this place is so tasty. This is in Sloughhouse so a bit of a drive for us but we will definitely stop again as we go to Amador County often from Sacramento. PS the coffee is great too! Desserts are off the charts. Shannon took great care of us -- thank you!!!

Here last night for dinner with friends. Brittany was our server and did a great job. She was helpful, friendly, and gave us some history about the restaurant and the food; perfect. I love this restaurant. Farm to fork at its best, organic non-gmo produce, farm/pasture raised meats, exceptional seasoning. Clean healthy eating and I feel great the next day even though I overdid it a bit with two sloughhouse bourbon smashes (I am usually a one drink guy, but since I was not driving, I enjoyed myself). A little about the restaurant from their website: " Meadowland's beautiful setting offers grounds that showcase a large patio, two dining rooms and a large grass lawn perfect for their "dinner-house" concept while also offering breakfast on the weekends. Weddings, business meetings, fundraisers, live music, and social events will also fit well in this elegantly renovated historic setting." Reservations were really easy to make and we arrived at 6:00PM and were seated immediately. This is one of my new favorite Sacramento area restaurants, though it is really east of Sacramento about 20 miles. Highly recommend; 5-stars for sure. Thank you Meadowlands and Brittany.

Were in the neighborhood and decided to stop in and grab a beverage. Cute spot the staff was friendly and the drinks were fair I would go back and try the food as it looked really good as we walked in. Definitely plentiful servings! The back deck deck is really lovely and you can sit and relax under any number of umbrellas and just enjoy the day. Happy hour 3- close I think it was Wednesday - Sunday. But check that out for yourself to be sure!

Greetings yelpers brought my daughter to the new and improved Meadowlands kitchen in Sloughhouse the place looks really nice beautiful location staff very friendly let's see how the biscuits and gravy taste will add photo

Sunday afternoon can be busy, but my guest of (5 total) we're able to sit at the bar for about 20 mins before got a table outside deck. They ran out of the cinnamon rolls at 12:30pm. Food came out at a decent time considering how busy it was. Some type of pollen kept on falling into our drinks because we were sitting under a tree, kept on digging into my drink to fetch it out. You can take a walk off of the deck and walk down onto the sand to see the creek. There are fire ants so beware if you're wearing flip flops.

Great stop. They are related to Roxy/Lucca's(owned by same people), so if you like Roxy or Lucca's ; you're gong to like Meadowlands. The chop salad was good (but Roxy's is still my fave.) I would still like to see more vegetarian options on the menu.

I stepped out of my local comfort dining zone, and decided to check out Meadowlands. We went to celebrate a life event, and were excited for something different. Meadowlands Kitchen is fairly new, and is located where the restaurant The Sloughhouse Inn used to be. Its like walking into someone's home. The exterior is warm and inviting. I don't care for the interior decor. Its bland, and doesnt scream welcome. We had reservations, and when we arrived, they couldn't find it. They offered us the bar area, and I am so glad that we said yes. The bar area has both tables with full back comfy chairs, tall table tops, and of course room at the bar itself. They offer full meal service, as well as, bar bites and cocktails. They have a small fireplace that wasn't on, and may not work. The wait staff is super helpful and friendly. We ended up dining in the bar, and it couldnt have been better. We scanned the menu, while not extensive, has a nice variety of bites, pizza's, and entrees. The bites range from homemade biscuits, onion rings (made in house) to full beef ribs. Yeah baby! The burgers are freshly made in house, like all of their food, and from spying on the table next to me, looked amazing! Super thick patties, like the ones you'd make at home. The cheese was all melty, and i spied an onion ring on one burger. The other burger had melty cheese, caramelized onions, and was on a big fluffy bun. Just yum! We ordered the roasted chicken with roasted brussel sprouts. The full half of chicken was covered with a light tangy sauce, and the chicken was melt in your mouth good. It was juicy, well flavored, and easily disappeared. The plate had a few roasted potatoes on it, and they were basic, but good. The chicken is made to order, and does take at least 25 mins to arrive at your table. Enjoy a drink and a bite while you wait! The beef in a barrel is out of this world. You have a choice or smoked beef brisket, or meatloaf. Go for the brisket. Its smoky flavor, combine with the tender beef is juicy perfection. The dish comes with potato gratin. I eyed the mac n cheese on the menu, and asked to sub the gratin for what I hoped would be cheesy noodles. BAM! And then it happened. Our meals arrived, and the mac n cheese is worth the drive. Its like out of this world AH-MAZING. Im serious! Its large noodles, covered with at least five different cheeses, bacon, and I don't know what the blended flavor is, but I could have just had the cheesy goodness, and my meal would have been complete. I joked with our waiter that it was like crack in a pot. He laughed and said that everyone says that. Yes, its THAT good. They sell out of it frequently. I loved that the waiter was attentive but not intrusive. He made sure that our drinks were kept filled, and we wanted for nothing. Dessert consisted of two selections, and like the menu, is ever changing. We were so full from dinner, that we didnt order dessert. Our burger eating neighbors did, and the bread pudding looked like I may need to go back and give it a try. The outdoor seating would be a great brunch spot, which they do offer, and I hope to get back to try. Parking is plentiful, and the scenery is lovely. Its one of my new favorite places. The prices are reasonable, and within keeping for the offerings. A great date place, a great family place, just a great place!

You can only find a nice setting and good food establishment in the city or in the suburbs, right? There's no way you'd find fine dining out in the country off a two-lane state road. Nah, never! Oh wait a minute, what's in that large wooden building off the road? Mmm, maybe - just maybe - this could be a nice place for dinner. Seriously, this is a hidden treasure nestled out in the country set in a gorgeous array of tall, shading trees. The building is quite large encased in rustic wood. Don't think run down but rather charming where you'd expect to find a good ol' friendly cowboy to exit out of with an inviting smile. When you enter, you'll find a nice bar to the right and the dining to the left. If you so desire to venture, there is porch seating outside where you enjoy the shade of the trees as well as the long and wide open green fields behind them. My wife and I sat inside which was comfortable in both temperature and seating. Our table had chairs opposite of the window and booth rows against the window side. I sat in the chair which was wooden and heavy in weight. It wasn't too heavy and slid easily across the carpet. The cushion was ample and comfortable. The table was also made of wood with a dark finish. We were greeted promptly by our waitress soon after being seated by our hostess and given small glasses with a glass water bottle that reminded me of those with milk when my father was a kid. It was a nice touch. We breezed the single page of offerings and quickly honed in on the burgers. My wife went with the Cowboy and I with the Elvis. Essentially the only difference was the sauce and the addition of bacon on my burger. Both came with fries but having viewed a few pictures of the Hipster Fries, I asked for those instead. I was informed they were for those at the bar only but our sweet waitress asked the manager to make an exception which was granted. As we waited for our meal we decided to try the Cheddar Biscuits as an appetizer. They were delivered on a long slender white plate wrapped in a napkin book shelved by honey and herb butter. Both enhanced the flavor of the biscuits but overall I could have skipped them altogether. They were good but weren't anything special. Now when I took my first bite of the Hipster Fries, THOSE special! These are home made fries covered in melted a blue cheese like sauce mixed with roasted Brussels sprouts. Now, I'm not a fan of the latter but they work well here in this combination. My wife and I quickly finished the fries before the cheese could even harden up from its yummy goodness. I then picked up my burger and upon the first bite was immediately rewarded with rich flavor. The bacon, the caramelized onions, the sweet cheddar cheese, the amazing beef, and that sauce. Wow, it was awesome! I gobbled it down so fast that my brain didn't have time to enjoy it as much as my taste buds did. I'm hungry thinking about it, again! We concluded our meal with dessert even though we were well fed and full. The sparkle in wife's eyes when she heard what the S'mores dish was made of was enough for me to order it. I'm not a huge brownie fan but the melted marshmallow and chocolate mousse was enough for me to go hunting with my fork when it arrived. Dude, this was a crazy good dessert! Like my burger before it, it was gone quicker than the mob dumping a body off a bridge into a river! So, should you stop by here if you're out in the suburbs...or even the city? Um, yes! This place is amazing and I will surely be back! I hope you will enjoy it as much as my wife and I did.

The food was so good. My sister and my daughter and I all had bites of each others dishes. The kids dishes were huge. I should have ordered that haha. They have flavored sodas my daughter, sister and brother in law all got sodas. I tried the pomegranate(don't remember what the other flavor was) it tasted almost like a ginger beer, I also tasted the lavender lemonade it was really good. My niece has eggs and bacon with toast. She loved it. I had avocado toast it was really yummy. My sister had crab frittata, daughter had cheddar bacon biscuit? I think that's what it was haha and my bother in law had the lamb sausage. Didn't try that one but it looked really good. I would recommend this place. It's a huge restaurant but the parking is a bit tricky. Hopefully you get there when there is a spot available.

We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into... ...for the BEST surprise Sunday date night! We'd driven right past this in a whirl to get to Daffodil Hill a week prior. Luckily, J was listening when I said it looked cute and new. I had no clue what I was rambling about. He then saw a write up in Sac Mag and booked us a reservation. As I anxiously awaited where he was taking me...I slowly realized where it was. I couldn't remember the name or what it was, but I remembered saying I wanted to try this cute place off the 16. Lo and behold, Meadowlands Kitchen and Bar. I know or knew nothing about this place. It looks like a home that was turned into a restaurant, but more looks like a B&B. We had reservations for 6PM, but you could have probably walked in easily too. We opted to sit on the gorgeous Patio, instead of in the dining hall. FYI - patio seating is also considered part of the bar area, so your server will be working both sections. It was a risky move, because it was close to sunset and it was kinda cold already. It was getting chilly, but the view was so pretty outside we decided to deal with it. At one point, we graciously asked the bus boy to turn on the heater, which he graciously did with help from a server. Thus set a reaction of all the other heaters to be turned on for the patio patrons. Our server was super sweet and attentive, even though she seemed to be fairly busy. No issues with service at all. J opted for a Track 7 beer and I went with one of their Cabs. They have hand crafted cocktails, but I opted for a glass of Cab. They have a few selections of each varietal, but not a lot. The menu looked really good and we also learned from our server that this is the home of the Lucky Dog Ranch. So all of their beef is fresh from the ranch. Between pizzas and burgers, I found something that caught my eye "beef in a barrel". Of course I asked what that was and she described it as the freshest meat from the ranch that AM, brought in and smoked. That specific day it was Meatloaf and au gratin potatoes with a veggie slaw. J's final decision was the Steak Pizza. "This is the best pizza I've ever had." Straight from J's mouth. I cheated on Lent and had one bite, after he professed this. And it was amazing...and he doesn't even like garlic sauce on his pizza. The high grade beef and the carby chew goodness of the crust is a perfect pairing for a patio dinner. Mine was amazing too. The herbs and flavor of the meatloaf was on point. Not only do you get one slice of goodness, they stack another on top and then add the most PERFECT bacon slice to your plate to finish it off. There was a cute little cast iron side dish of au gratin potatoes, topped with cheese and more cheese. There was a slaw, but I didn't touch it much, not really my thing. The taste wasn't bad, but I don't really care for slaw that much. But the dipping sauce I ordered on the side, was really good. J liked it, more like loved it, more than I did. I used it from time to time, but he cleaned the little jar clean with the last bite of his crust. Seriously, our meals were simple in nature but their flavors blew us away. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The flavors that that came through, had us already asking our server about the brunch menu. We were already planning our next trip out here, before our meal ended. The setting is awesome and reminds you that just outside of the city is somewhere you should escape from time to time. Rolling green hills, a sunset, and a lovely patio dinner is something that shouldn't be taken for granted. Although they are fairly new, December 2016, they have honed in on their niche and are doing it well. We only ate two entrees, but are excited to come back, bring friends, and try more! Beef in a Barrel sounds sketchy, but will change your life!
